On December 16–17, the SIMTECHED Erasmus+ project officially kicked off in Vienna, bringing together all partner institutions for the first time. SIMStation was delighted to host the meeting at our facilities in Vienna, welcoming representatives from the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) Munich, the coordinating institution of the project, Masaryk University (MUNI) in Brno, the Community Health Center Ljubljana, the University of Genoa, the University of Padova, and SIMStation as the industry partner. The meeting marked an important milestone and provided a great opportunity for the consortium to connect in person and begin shaping the collaboration.
Over the two days, partners focused on organizational planning and coordination, discussing the overall structure of the project, the timeline, and the next steps. Establishing a clear and efficient framework for collaboration was a central goal of the kickoff meeting. Through open discussions, the consortium aligned on communication processes, responsibilities, and workflows to ensure a smooth and productive partnership throughout the project.
A large part of the workshop was dedicated to the development of the training content that will be created within SIMTECHED. The partners worked together to define the initial structure of the educational units and their subtopics. The future training program will cover a wide range of key areas, including the introduction to simulation-based training, basic medical knowledge, simulation centre management, data management, working with manikins and medical devices, as well as the optimal use of audiovisual technology and many other important aspects of modern simulation-based education.
After an intensive and productive first day, the group also had the chance to experience the festive atmosphere of Vienna during the Christmas season. A visit to one of Vienna’s traditional Christmas markets, followed by a shared dinner, provided the perfect opportunity to continue conversations in a relaxed setting and to get to know the people behind the institutions. These informal moments helped strengthen the relationships that will support the collaboration throughout the project.
The kickoff meeting in Vienna laid a strong foundation for the upcoming work within SIMTECHED. With the first milestones defined and a motivated international team in place, the partners are now moving forward with the development of the project’s educational content. Stay tuned for updates on our website as the project progresses.
