Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU)

LMU in Munich is a top-ranked university known for its excellence in teaching and research. They collaborate with prestigious institutions and have received grants for their scientific contributions. LMU Munich coordinates the SIMTECHED project and leads the overall project management, quality assurance and steering processes. The team contributes long-standing experience in simulation-based education, AR/VR integration and the development of innovative teaching formats in healthcare.

Masaryk University is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic, with ten faculties and more than 31,000 students and 5,100 staff members. It is recognised as a major teaching and research institution in Central Europe, with strong participation in European mobility and research programmes. The Faculty of Medicine runs one of the largest medical simulation centres in Europe and worldwide – the Masaryk University Simulation Center (SIMU).

Community Health Center Ljubljana

The Community Health Center Ljubljana is the largest primary healthcare institution in Slovenia, with over 1,600 employees working across 8 organisational units and 16 locations, serving close to 500,000 patients and facilitating nearly 3 million contacts annually. CHC Ljubljana operates an advanced Simulation Center, which delivers simulation training for healthcare professionals at the primary care level, with a strong focus on patient safety, crisis management and mobile simulation (SIM mobil).

University of Genova (UniGe)

The University of Genova is a major Italian research university with a strong track record in European projects and numerous contracts in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. Within UniGe, the Department of Informatics, Bioengineering, Robotics, and Systems Engineering (DIBRIS) acts as a reference point for research and education in computer science, bioengineering and robotics. Together with the Simulation and Advanced Education Center (SimAv), it operates the Joint lab for Emerging Technologies in Simulation (JETS), focusing on hardware and software technologies in healthcare simulation, including robotics, ICT and prototype development.

University of Padova (UNIPD)

The University of Padova is one of Europe’s oldest and most established universities, with strong participation in European cooperation and research projects.

Its simulation and medical education teams are deeply involved in high-fidelity simulation, human factors training, team resource management and instructor training, including directors and trainers of accredited simulation training centres.

Dr. med. Marc Lazarovici, MD

Physician & Researcher

Physician (internal medicine and emergency medicine), human factors and team resource management trainer, over ten years of experience in simulation training in emergency medicine and education Researcher in the fields of education and simulation as well as augmented and virtual reality. Marc is part of the project management team and supports the project with its simulation expertise in course development and implementation.

Selina Kim, MA

Social Scientist & Statistican

Statistician experience in developing training formats as well as evaluations, questionnaires, project management and statistical topics. Selina is part of the project management team and supports the project in the implementation of the course phase and the follow-up evaluation.

Jennifer Tempfli

Social scientist and geographer, experience in project management, quality management, evaluations, questionnaires and development of teaching concepts. Jennifer is part of the project management team and supports the project in the implementation of the course phase and the project dissemination.

Jiri Travenec

Deputy Director for Technology

is deputy director for technology in the Simulation Center. Graduate of Computer Graphics and Multimedia at the FIT, Brno University of Technology, having 15 years of experience in IT and since 2017 involved in healthcare simulation and part of the Simulation Center team. Currently a PhD student of Healthcare Simulation at Masaryk University. At SIMU he is leader of a team which is responsible for AV and IT equipment and operations.

Jan Dvoracek

Simulation Center Dept. Head

is Simulation Center department Head having Master’s degree in Critical Care Nursing and currently PhD student of Healthcare Simulation at Masaryk University. He has 10 years of experience in emergency and intensive care medicine and more than 5 years expertise in the simulation field. His responsibility is to run all operations at the largest European simulation center.

Tereza Vafková

Vice-Head Department of Simulation Medicine

serves as vice-head at the Department of Simulation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University. She is actively involved in faculty development, leads instructor training courses and plays a key role in advancing the Student as Teacher program, which fosters student engagement in teaching and supports the development of their educational competencies. She also works as a physician at the Department of Comprehensive Oncology Care at the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute.

Veronika Justrová

Grant Support Manager

is a graduate of Applied Biophysics and Radiography at Masaryk University and has also worked clinically as a radiographer. Since 2022, she has been part of the Simulation Centre at the Faculty of Medicine, where she has progressed from simulation technician to senior technician and coordinator of pregraduate simulation activities. In 2025, she obtained the international Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) credential. At SIMU, she combines her technical and healthcare background, contributing to the education of future healthcare professionals while continuously developing her own expertise in simulation-based education.

Uroš Zafošnik

Expert Emergency Manager

Uroš Zafošnik pioneers modern forms of health education in primary health care through simulations in Slovenia. His journey began as a registered nurse in the emergency room at the Health Center Maribor, progressing to the role of expert emergency manager. With a wealth of experience, he served as the Chief Nurse of the Emergency Medical Services in Ljubljana. Beyond clinical practice, he is an accomplished academic, holding a Master’s in Social Work. As a dedicated educator, he has been integrating social work concepts into emergency medical aid programs.

Anja Poženel Belec

Project Coordinator

Anja Poženel Belec is the Project Coordinator at the International Office of Community Health Centre Ljubljana, where she supports the implementation of international projects in primary healthcare, including coordination of activities, preparation of reports, organization of meetings and study visits, and collaboration with national and international partners. She holds a dual degree in Japanese Studies and Art History from the University of Ljubljana and has a professional background in project coordination, administration, commercial management, and team leadership. With strong organizational skills, international communication experience, and a proactive, people-oriented approach, I am committed to contributing to impactful projects that strengthen collaboration and community health development.

Davorin Marković

Coordinator of the Simulation Center

is an experienced simulation enthusiast and energetic educator with years of clinical experience, particularly in emergency medical services and trauma care. He passionately shares his knowledge of resuscitation every day—with healthcare professionals and corporate teams alike, who eagerly take part in experiential team-building events and first aid training. He regularly contributes his expertise at international conferences and workshops in the fields of healthcare, medicine, and quality. As an active member of an international research team, he promotes the importance of safety and teamwork in healthcare through experiential learning and simulation-based training.

University of Genova (UniGe)

Serena Ricci

PhD in Bioengineering and Robotics

has a PhD in Bioengineering and Robotics, from the University of Genoa (UniGe), Italy in collaboration with the CUNY School of Medicine,

New York, and a MS in Bioengineering from the UniGe. She is Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at UniGe, where

she teaches Simulation in Medicine to Biomedical Engineering bachelor Students and leads the Joint lab for Emerging Technologies in Simulation. She is currently on the board of the Italian Society for Simulation in Medicine and the Society for Simulation in Europe. Her research interests include the use of technology and physiological data to improve medical and surgical training and evaluation. 

Mara Coduri

PhD in Bioengineering and Robotics

received the master’s degree in Bioengineering from the University of Genova, Italy, in 2021, and a Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering and Robotics in 2025. During her Ph.D., she spent six months at FH Technikum Wien as a visiting student. After the Ph.D. s she started a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Simulation and Advanced Education Center, University of Genova, where she is currently working. Her current research includes medical simulation, virtual reality, mixed reality, and electronics. 

Sara Biondi

Master's Degree in Bioengineering and Robotics

completed her master’s degree in Bioengineering at the University of Genoa, Italy, in 2025. She is currently a Research Fellow at the Joint lab for Emerging Technologies in Simulation at the University of Genoa. Her research interests primarily involve the use of haptics in surgical training and Virtual Reality applications. 

Anna Caleffi

Master's Degree in Bioengineering and Robotics

graduated with an M.Sc. degree in Bioengineering from the University of Genoa, Italy, in 2024. Following the graduation, she spent nine months as a Research Fellow at the Joint lab for Emerging Technologies in Simulation, also at University of Genoa. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Robotics and Intelligent Machine at the same university. Her research focuses on the use of 3D models in surgical planning, including Virtual Reality applications, medical image segmentation, and 3D printing. 

University of Padova (UNIPD)

Sandro Savino, Eng, PhD

Computer Engineer

Computer engineer at the Department of Medicine of UNIPD as part of the simulation faculty and he is a lecturer at the Department of Information Engineering. Trained as a moulage specialist of the Italian Red Cross and as a debriefer, lead technician of the simulation center. He is passionate about technology, he develops software and hardware solutions for simulation, with an eye for open source and cost containment.

Raffaela Pillitsch, MSc

Head of Marketing

Digital marketing professional with a background digital retail marketing, bringing many years of experience leading international marketing teams. Since 2023, Head of Marketing at SIMStation, responsible for global marketing strategy and brand development. Specialized in 360° marketing strategies with a strong focus on brand presence and impactful trade show experiences.

Christian Tschinder

Customer Success Manager

Christian Tschinder worked as a media designer for digital and print media from 2003 to 2021, specializing in 3D graphics and animation. In 2011, he also took on the role of senior art director and was part of the management team at a media agency.
He joined SIMStation in 2022 and focuses on customer success. There, he combines his many years of experience in design, communication, and training with instructional design, marketing, and customer support to facilitate sustainable learning experiences and successful implementations.
